I'm Scott Elliott, a partner practicing in the Corporate Department and co-chair of the firm's Technology Companies and Venture Capital Group. My practice primarily consists of representing technology and life science companies in various industries, and the venture capitalists, private equity and investment banks that finance these companies. The companies I represent are both private and public.

Representing companies has been one of the most enjoyable aspects of my practice. I assist these companies in a variety of matters, including formation and start-up issues, private and public debt and equity financings, strategic and business advice, mergers and acquisition activity and corporate governance issues. I especially enjoy the ability to learn about a number of different industries and business models, as my clients range from start-ups to mature companies operating in a variety of fields, including information technologies, internet services, telecommunications, life sciences and semiconductors.

I also routinely represent private equity firms, venture capitalists and investment banks that finance these companies.

Prior to joining Ropes & Gray in 2006, I was a partner of a large, international firm which I had joined upon graduation from law school.

My wife and I both grew up in Northern California and attended UC Berkeley. We have three children and when we are not busy with their various activities or rooting on the Cal Bears, we can be found enjoying the outdoors.
