I am an associate in the Litigation Department. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with my B.S.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, I started my career at Fish & Neave in 2001 as a patent agent. I came to Ropes & Gray in the subsequent merger in 2005. When I graduated from Fordham Law School in 2006, I switched from patent-related work to litigation and I have seen a wide-array of different projects. I have worked on various commercial litigations, internal investigations, federal investigations involving health care fraud, securities investigations, and insurance litigations.

One interesting project I worked on involved an internal investigation for a corporate client that received an anonymous note through the company’s compliance web site that read like a law school hypothetical. The note included allegations that a senior executive had threatened people and was involved in a fight at a bar (albeit with sharp words, not fists). After interviewing people referred to in the anonymous note, the issues turned out to be more sophisticated than at first glance and required me to quickly learn about antitrust law. Suffice to say, our investigation uncovered no evidence of illegal conduct, and we were able to resolve the situation for our client in a positive way.

Whenever I can, I try to take on pro bono work. In order to keep my ties with intellectual property, I am working on a pro bono copyright case. I also recently got involved with Project FAIR, which offers assistance to individuals challenging the government’s denial of public assistance, food stamps, and Medicaid at administrative Fair Hearings. Through this, I have had a chance to staff a table at the Fair Hearing site to assist pro se individuals with their Fair Hearings. I am hoping to represent someone soon at their Fair Hearing to gain more litigation experience.

When I am not in the office, I try to exercise when I feel motivated (with racquetball being the new way to make it interesting) and generally enjoy New York City with my girlfriend, friends, and family.
