I am Leo Arnaboldi, a partner in the Tax & Benefits Department in New York. I'm also active in the firm's recruiting efforts and serve as Vice Chair of the firm's Hiring Group.

I give tax advice on mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcies and corporate restructurings, financings and issues pertaining to so-called "flow-through entities" (i.e. any entity whose taxable gain or loss generally flows through to its equity holders, such as LLCs, partnerships and S corporations).

In addition, I do a considerable amount of general corporate work for the private equity division of a major investment bank.

I graduated from Amherst College in 1981 where I majored in English. Entering Harvard Law School, I never dreamed of becoming a tax lawyer. I signed up for my first tax course with trepidation, but took one tax course after another, and upon graduation, was set on practicing tax law. Not even a delightful year clerking for the Hon. Joseph L. Tauro, a federal district court judge in Boston, could alter my course.

My wife and I have four boys and live in Manhattan. The eldest, Peter (19), has left the familial abode for college and summer employment, but the three younger boys, Brenton (17), Andrew (13) and Adrian (5), are more than capable of exhausting us on their own. Weekends in our household are often consumed by soccer, tennis and track events, and we constantly have to balance the energy level of our boys against the rights of our neighbors to the quiet enjoyment of their property.

In my spare time, I serve as the Chairman of a community music school with substantial outreach programs, serve as co-chair of the Amherst College Annual Fund, and train for triathlons and marathons. I've run the last five NYC marathons and try to do one "half-distance" triatholon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) every summer. I also serve on the Board of The Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative – US.
