I joined Ropes & Gray in 2005 as an associate in the Tax & Benefits Department. After practicing in both the tax and the benefits sections of my department for two years, I have recently begun focusing entirely on ERISA, general employee benefits and executive compensation. The time I spent “splitting” between tax and benefits has made me a more well-rounded associate. It allowed me to look at transactions from more than one angle, and to work on projects as diverse as amending a retirement plan and researching the costs of registering a foreign LLC in a particular state.

I have been involved with the firm's pro bono program since I was a first-year associate. Recently, I have been working with a pro bono client to form a new school and participating in the Food Bank for New York City’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2003 with a B.A. in Psychology and Communication. I went straight to Yale Law School and graduated in 2006. During my first summer in law school, I had the opportunity to work in both the Complex Federal Litigation Clinic and the Prison Legal Services Clinic, for which I appeared in the Appellate Court of Connecticut to argue an appeal from a denial of a habeas petition.

I spent my second summer at Ropes & Gray, and came back because I loved the people I met and the variety of work I received. Since I have chosen to practice in an area of law that never stops changing, I also felt that the firm's emphasis on training and continuing education would serve me well. The firm has exceeded my expectations in each of these areas—my work as a full-time associate is interesting, many of my colleagues are also my good friends, and I frequently attend offsite CLEs that are of interest to me.

In my free time I enjoy reading fiction, running, going to movies and musicals, cooking, searching for the world's best cupcake, and traveling to places with beaches.
